Dr. Van  Widenfelt has over two decades of experience as a Clinical Psychologist in the role of therapist, trainer, researcher, consultant and teacher, in both the U.S. and the Netherlands. 

She holds two PhDs in Clinical Psychology from both the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. and Radboud University in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. After a year of internship in the Baltimore VA Hospital, Dr. Van Widenfelt did a two year postdoc at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

 

After completing her extensive training, she served on the faculty in Child Psychiatry at Leiden University Medical Center for 14 years before returning to the US and joining the Psychology faculty at Texas A&M University, College Station. As Clinical Assistant Professor in the Psychology Department at Texas A&M University, she supervised Clinical Psychology graduate students in their clinical practicum and taught several undergraduate psychology courses. In her academic career she has supervised and conducted clinical research, authoring over 50 professional publications. 

She has been licensed as a Clinical Psychologist in the Netherlands from 1999-2016, and then in Texas, and now in Washington, DC. She is in private practice seeing clients in person and with videotherapy.
